Manchester United interested in Chelsea trio as attackers frustrated by Thomas Tuchel's system

Manchester United interested in Chelsea trio as attackers frustrated by Thomas Tuchel's system

Chelsea are reshaping their attack this summer.

Manchester United are showing an interest in Chelsea duo Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer, according to reports.

The Blues are reshaping their attack for the current season, with Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner both departing on a loan and permanent deal respectively.

Raheem Sterling has been brought in as one of their marquee signings of the summer, but some of Chelsea’s current options going forward face an uncertain future at the club.

The Evening Standard are reporting that Premier League rivals United are looking to sign Pulisic on a loan deal.

Erik ten Hag’s side are also thought to be interested in Ziyech and Hudson-Odoi, with the duo both being linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge throughout the course of the summer.

Pulisic has struggled for consistent game time under Thomas Tuchel, although the American international has also been affected by injuries since he made the move from Borussia Dortmund in 2019.

The 23-year-old wants more minutes ahead of the World Cup later this year, and he could be tempted with a move to United.

Chelsea are said to have unhappy attacking players in their squad, with Tuchel’s system preventing them from being ‘effective attackers’ as he looks to prioritise a strong defence.

Ziyech, who has also been linked with a move to AC Milan this summer, is also on United’s radar as the window approaches its conclusion.

Nabil Djellit has reported that the Red Devils are ‘ready to make a move’ for the former Ajax man who, like Pulisic, has struggled for consistency at Chelsea.

If the Blues’ asking price for the Moroccan is not too high, then United would be willing to sign him.

Hudson-Odoi could also leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with the 21-year-old having limited game time last season.

Recent reports have said that Chelsea would only allow him to leave on a loan deal, with new owner Todd Boehly pleading for him to not ask for a permanent move.

Dortmund, Southampton and Leicester are all said to be interested in the winger, as well as Newcastle United, who have asked to be kept informed of the situations regarding Hudson-Odoi, Pulisic, Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja.

Whilst Chelsea continue their transfer business throughout the rest of the window, they are also ready to work on the deals of some of their current options.

The Blues want to tie down the likes of Mason Mount, Reece James and Broja to long-term contracts at the club.

It is thought that Boehly wants to introduce a ‘US-style’ contract policy at the west London side, with the aim to keep their younger stars on long deals.

Such offers could see the players sign seven-year contracts at Chelsea, a move that would continue the trend of trusting the youth at the club.
