Donald Trump Will Commentate Evander Holyfield's Comeback Fight

It's official: Boxing has gone mad.

Yes, you read that headline correctly.

Donald Trump has been confirmed as the guest commentator for Evander Holyfield's comeback bout against mixed martial arts great Vitor Belfort this weekend.

Boxing legend Holyfield was initially meant to fight Oscar De La Hoya, but Belfort stepped in on late notice when the former world champion withdrew.

Belfort wasn't the only person parachuted in at the last minute though, with the former President of the United States set to make his debut in the commentary box.

We knew boxing had gone mad, but witnessing Trump do play-by-play on an Evander Holyfield bout is completely absurd.

According to the event's promoter Triller Fight Club, Trump will be on hand to deliver "unfiltered boxing commentary" that "you won't want to miss".

Even before his stint in the White House, sports-mad Trump was renowned for always dropping by to a couple of blockbuster games and events.

He has been snapped at a number of UFC and boxing cards as well as a few NFL games - in a corporate box, of course.

Well now he'll get arguably the best seat in the house when he's ringside to watch one of the greatest boxers at all-time return to action 10 years after initially hanging up the gloves.

"I love great fighters and great fights," Trump said.

"I look forward to seeing both this Saturday night and sharing my thoughts ringside. You won't want to miss this special event."

The scrap between Holyfield and Belfort in Florida has been sanctioned as a professional bout, not an exhibition.

The pay-per-view, which also includes the boxing match between ex-UFC champions Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz, will cost punters US$49.99.

Seeing as though Trump has remained relatively quiet since losing the presidential battle to Joe Biden, you can imagine he'll have plenty to say in the commentary box.

For Triller, that means one thing: more pay-per-view buys.
