Boxing Fans Believe A Journalist Asked Tyson Fury Perhaps The Worst Post-Fight Question In History

As far as post-fight questions go, this one has got to be up there as one of the worst.

In the wake of Tyson Fury's historic victory over Deontay Wilder, one journalist genuinely asked whether the current WBC and Lineal heavyweight champion was going to slip back into depression.

When Gareth Davies from The Telegraph was handed the microphone at the post-bout press conference, he said: "After a thrilling contest like that, you must be incredibly proud of yourself. But are you really going to fall into a depression?"

Fury, being the consummate professional that he is, didn't turn his nose up at the question but instead decided to tackle it head on.

"I hope not," he replied.

"I'm going to try my best to keep positive and stay focused on being happy.

"I've got a lot to be thankful for in my life. God has given me everything I've ever asked for and I've got a lot to be thankful for, for sure."

When footage of the press conference question emerged on social media, Davies found himself squarely in the firing line as his "inappropriate" and "insensitive" question appeared to spark backlash among viewers.

With Fury clearly in a very good place after going to war in what'll go down as a modern-day classic, fans were fuming that a reporter would dampen the mood by asking a question like that.

But after copping quite a bit of stick online, Davies has since responded by seeking out Fury's opinion during his celebrations in Las Vegas.

"I actually thought it was quite a good question," Fury told Davies.

"Always talk about mental health, we always do."

Davies responded by saying: "They don't know I sent you messages when you weren't well"

To which Fury replied: "And they also don't know that I sent you messages when you weren't well/

"You know what, it happens to everybody and everybody is going to have an opinion. So, it is what it is."

Given their friendship away from the ring, it seems Fury wasn't too phased by Davies' question - although boxing fans weren't in the same boat.
