Jake Paul And Eddie Hearn Make $1 Million Bet On Katie Taylor Vs Amanda Serrano Fight

Jake Paul is renowned for making ludicrous bets ahead of boxing matches he's involved in, but thankfully this one doesn't involve any silly tattoos.

Instead, Paul and fellow promoter Eddie Hearn have made a $1,000,000 bet ahead of the highly-anticipated fight between Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano.

Speaking during the final press conference before the bout, Serrano's promoter Paul started trading barbs with Taylor's promoter Hearn and things escalated so rapidly that a side wager was declared.

"You're fully confident that your charge will be victorious and become undisputed lightweight world champion?" Hearn asked Paul.

To which Paul replied: "More confident that you are. I've got a bet for you Eddie.

"I bet you all the jewellery that I'm wearing right now that Amanda wins the fight."

But Hearn hit back.

"I was hoping to bet for a lot more that that," he responded.

"I mean, 10 grand is not a lot."

Paul, clearly offended by Hearn's valuation of his drip, insisted that his diamond chains and bracelets were worth $500,000.

"$500,000?" Hearn asked.

"Maybe we can talk a million?"

Paul offered out his hand for Hearn, but the Matchroom Sport boss appeared reluctant to shake it at first.

Hearn did, however, finally shake Paul's hand which received a round of applause from those in the press conference.

The mega-money bet certainly raises the stakes, but not everyone was too happy with it.

Judging from the majority of comments across social media, people thought that the wager was overshadowing from the main even - a bout which has been described as the biggest boxing match in women's history, one which has been compared to Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier.

Speaking after the press conference, Hearn addressed this and insisted that he didn't want his deal with Paul to be a side attraction.

"The bet is for real, but I will just say I don't it to detract from a great fight," he told reporters.

"I saw the reaction from Katie's trainer, I like to give those girls the limelight.

"But at the same time, I truly believe Katie Taylor will win this fight and I honestly wouldn't take any bet if I didn't.

"I honestly believe she wins the fight, but at the same time I want to give these girls the limelight they deserve."

Paul, on the other hand, didn't share the same view.

"I think the bet just makes the fight more interesting," Paul added.

"Everyone needs to tune in to see how the bet will be resolved. Tune in to DAZN to see the winner of this fight, there's a lot on the line."

Yet after locking eyes with Hearn for a split second, Paul suddenly changed his tune and remembered the main reason why he was there.

"But yeah, obviously it's up to the ladies and we're still here for an amazing fight," he concluded.
