Scary scenes unfolded after Shakur Stevenson's bout when he was forced to abandon his press conference early to reportedly save his mother from a brawl.

Stevenson, who is quickly emerging as one of the brightest young stars in boxing, had just secured the biggest win of his career over Oscar Valdez when all hell broke loose backstage.

The 24-year-old was half way through a question from the media when he noticed it kicking off in the background of the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

As the heated scuffle broke out, Stevenson simply dropped his WBO and WBA super featherweight titles on the stage floor before rushing out of the press conference to assist his family.

Now, according to reports from ESPN's Mike Coppinger, two women are accused of "attacking" Stevenson's mother.

"Apparently two women are accused of attacking Shakur Stevenson's mother, which abruptly concluded the news conference when Shakur rushed to her aid," Coppinger tweeted.

"Was unclear what was happening in real time."

It's understood an investigation into the incident is still underway, although Stevenson's manager James Prince has confirmed that the boxer and his mother are "fine".

Footage of the wild melee has since surfaced on social media showing a large group of people throwing punches in the MGM Grand forecourt.

It is then alleged that local security locked Stevenson and his mother in a hallway to avoid any more unprovoked attacks.
