'Respect The Universe Boss': Cricket Legend Chris Gayle Produces Another Strange Interview

Chris Gayle loves talking about Chris Gayle...

Chris Gayle and bizarre interviews just go hand-in-hand.

The cricket icon has been involved in another bizarre post-match chat, leaving viewers watching from home scratching their heads once again.

The West Indies had just downed Australia by six wickets in their T20 game three clash and Gayle was in the thick of the action, notching an impressive 67 from just 38 balls to bring his total T20 runs to a record-shattering 14,000 throughout his career.

Despite that feat, incredibly, it was the first time since 2016 that the explosive batsman had scored a half century in a T20 international and when he was asked about this after the game he decided to go on a long-winded rant about - well - himself.

"My main focus is the World Cup," Gayle said.

"Don't mind the numbers, Chris Gayle not getting the runs, soon to be 42, you guys should be happy to see Chris Gayle on the field still.

"Hopefully Chris will last as long as possible. Cherish those moments. Commentators, don't put no stats about Chris Gayle not scoring a half century.

"Just respect the 'Universe Boss' playing some cricket and having some fun. Enjoy the moment with Chris Gayle with a strong West Indies team."

It certainly wouldn't be the first time Gayle has conducted a strange pitch-side interview.

A few years back, the West Indian cricketer made headlines following a controversial interview he did with former Channel 10 Big Bash League reporter Mel McLaughlin where he made her feel rather uncomfortable after saying: "Don't blush, baby."

He was fined $10,000 for the incident.

Against the Aussies yesterday, though, the 41-year-old was back to his very best, hitting four fours and seven sixes.

As for the Australia, they only cleared the boundary twice within the 20 overs.

"We would have liked more runs, no doubt," captain Aaron Finch said.

"That comes down to the top order not going through. If one of your top four is there towards the back end you put pressure on the opposition bowlers.

"We have to be better, no doubt, we can't hide behind that, we've been below our best."
