Former Australian Cricketer Stuart MacGill Kidnapped At Gunpoint And Held For Ransom

Stuart MacGill was kidnapped at gunpoint and held for ransom by a criminal group in Sydney's lower north shore, police have confirmed.

According to the Daily Telegraph, a group of men came to the former Australian Test cricketer's home in Cremorne at around 8pm on April 14.

It is alleged that 50-year-old MacGill was confronted at his doorstep by three men who forced him into a vehicle at gunpoint.

That car then made its way to Bringelly where police say MacGill was threatened with the firearm and assaulted.

It's understood the group of men then drove to Belmore and released MacGill approximately an hour later.

The incident was initially reported to local police on Wednesday 20 April and the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives launched an official investigation under Strike Force Cain.

With assistance from the Raptor Squad and the Public Order and Riot Squad, detectives now have four men under arrest in relation to the shocking incident.

Leg spinner MacGill retired from cricket in 2008 but enjoyed a stellar career at both Test and One Day Internationals level.
