'I Can't Make Sense Of This': Daniel Sturridge Left Fuming With Australia's Compulsory Quarantine

Daniel Sturridge is not too happy with Australia's compulsory quarantine for overseas travellers.

The former Liverpool, Chelsea and England striker recently touched down in Western Australia having signed for A-League club Perth Glory following a stint in Turkey.

But before he's allowed to meet his new teammates and begin training for the upcoming season, the 32-year-old must complete his mandatory state-enforced isolation.

Other states Down Under have began easing these restrictions for overseas travellers, but Western Australia is still standing firm on keeping the rule in place - much to Sturridge's confusion.

"Still can't get my head around why I have to quarantine for 15 days when I'm Covid free and vaccinated," Sturridge tweeted.

"I've literally been in my room for a week so far and took two Covid tests.

"I have antibodies. Rules are rules but I can't make sense of this. See you in eight days."

The Glory recruit also posted another video on his TikTok, giving his followers a little tour of his hotel room.

At the end of the clip, Sturridge breaks out into a performance, singing: "Tell me how it's supposed to be with no air. I can't live, can't breathe with no air because my windows don't open in here."

Under the state's current protocols, international travellers must complete 14 days of hotel quarantine before they're granted access to enter the community.

Throughout the entire pandemic, Western Australia - under the guidance of premier Mark McGowan - have been praised for their minimal local transmissions of Covid cases.

But now that other states are beginning to ease restrictions, there have been calls for McGowan to start doing the same.

Sturridge is just one of many people in isolation, but with the A-League's new campaign just under a month from kick-off, he'll undoubtedly be counting down the days until his release.
