Kamaru Usman is keen on going toe-to-toe with perhaps the best boxer on earth right now.

That's right, the UFC welterweight champ wants to do a super-fight with boxing megastar Canelo Alvarez.

Speaking to TMZ, Usman's manager Ali Abdelaziz admitted that his fighter has his sights set on big things something big once he's dealt with long-time rival Colby Covington at UFC 268.

"What's his name? The Mexican boxer who's the pound-for-pound king right now? Canelo? Let's get the pound-for-pound king in boxing vs. the pound-for-pound king in MMA. We're not into this fake fight, gimme fight," Abdelaziz said.

"If you think you're the pound-for-pound king, Kamaru is the pound-for-pound king. Let's have two different kings fight each other. No takedowns allowed.

"It's a fight. He's going to tug on him, he's going to push him back, he's going to clinch with him and make him tired. We've seen Kamaru get hit by big shots, the only think he's got to protect is his body because Canelo goes good to the body. It's going to go 12 rounds and it's going to be a dog fight.

"We saw Conor McGregor, a guy who can't even beat guys in the UFC, went 10 rounds with Floyd Mayweather. You have to tell me Kamaru cannot go 12 rounds with Canelo and beat him? It's not a money grab, it's a fight."

But it seems having a scrap with Canelo isn't the only thing on Usman's radar right now.

According to Abdelaziz claims his client still has plenty more to prove in the UFC - and his goals could see him eventually clash with an old friend a few weight classes above.

"After that [Canelo,] I've always said it, I want Kamaru to go up a weight class and fight for middleweight title," Abdelaziz added.

"It's what I want him to do. I believe that today Kamaru can go up and be a two-division champion. He deserves it and he's earned it. He's one of the greatest fighters ever - not the greatest. But I think he's the pound-for-pound king by far.

So yes, that means that Usman could face off one day against his old pal Israel Adesanya if he ever hopes to touch that 185-pound strap.
