We've seen some pretty spicy grudge matches in our time, but this one right here is shaping up to be one of the spiciest.

Former friends turned foes Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington will finally get the chance to settle their differences inside the cage after it was announced they'd be headlining the UFC 272 card at the T-Mobile Arena on March 5, according to ESPN's Brett Okamoto.

Whether they'll actually bury the hatchet is another story altogether, but either way, this one promises to be box office entertainment.

It goes without saying, but this is probably one of the biggest rivalries currently in the UFC.

To put it simply, these two blokes do not like each other one single bit.

To give some context, they used to be training partners at American Top Team and eventually became very good friends too - it's understood Covington even stayed in Masvidal's house at one point.

But it didn't take long for the duo to drift apart as they began climbing up the welterweight rankings alongside each other.

Covington added more fuel to the fire by taking any chance he got to have a pop at his old pal Masvidal, making their feud even more bitter.

Masvidal has returned serve, although his taunts don't seem to be as personal as Covington's - yes, Colby went a step too far by bringing his rival's family into the equation.

Masvidal and Covington have fallen agonisingly short in their respective title quests, both losing twice to welterweight king Kamaru Usman.

Covington recently slumped to a unanimous decision defeat to Usman at UFC 268 in November, while Masvidal was famously knocked out cold for the first time in his career by the 'Nigerian Nightmare' back in April at UFC 261.

And having cleaned out most of the 170-pound division, Usman probably views this upcoming five-round bout as a No.1 contender fight with the victor in line for a championship trilogy.
