Antonio Brown Just Turned His Back On The NFL For Good

It appears Antonio Brown has announced his retirement from professional football via Twitter.

The explosive wide receiver has been desperately trying to find a team willing to take him following a nightmare year in 2019.

After being picked up by New England following his multi-million-dollar contract standoff with the Oakland Raiders, AB only played one game last season as a series of off-field incidents resulted in the Patriots letting him go.

But now, with a pending legal case creeping up and a series of burnt bridges standing in his way of joining a new team, it seems Brown's ten-year career in the NFL is finally over.

He tweeted: "Is it time to walk away? I done everything in the game.

"At this point the risk is greater than the reward thank you everyone who been part of this journey I sincerely thank you for everything. Life goes on 84!

"I came, I saw, I conquered. Mission complete. Call God."

At just 32 years of age, AB is hardly past his prime - he's arguably in the thick of it.

While he never graced an NFL field wearing the iconic silver and black of the Raiders, Brown is revered by most for what he achieved earlier in his career in Pittsburgh.

During his nine stellar seasons with the Steelers, Brown recorded a mammoth 11,207 yards and 74 touchdowns.

The seven-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro was destined for greatness when he fell into the lap of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots after a public fall out with head coach Jon Gruden in Oakland.

But not even Brady could save Brown from his own self.

With just one appearance for New England under his belt, coach Bill Belichick gave Brown the boot after it was revealed that a civil lawsuit had been filed accusing the troubled star of exploitation, sexual assault and rape.

That investigation is still ongoing.
