Colby Covington gives the best take yet on Mike Tyson's fight with Jake Paul

The UFC star has shared his thoughts on the controversial fight.

UFC star Colby Covington has given his take on Mike Tyson's fight with Jake Paul.

Earlier this month the boxing world was stunned by the announcement that former world heavyweight champion Tyson will return to the ring to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

The fight will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on July 20, 2024.

That fact that Tyson will be 58 years old by the time of the fight - 31 years Paul's senior - has raised concerns among fans, pundits and other boxers.

That includes UFC star Colby Covington, an outspoken figure who always speaks his mind.

The 36-year-old isn't afraid to cause controversy, but his comments on Tyson's fight with Paul echo the views of many others.

"I don't like it at all," Colby said on the SOSCAST while discussing the fight.

"Mike still looks like a superhuman for 58 but he's still 58 years old and he shouldn't be fighting anymore.

"I don't think it's safe, I think it's dangerous. At that age your heart might explode, if he gets hit in the head he might have a brain bleed.

"I hope that Mike Tyson makes it through injury-free and doesn't get hurt. But I don't like the fight. Jake [Paul] is in his mid-20s.

"I think it's going to end bad, Jake is probably going to knock him out inside the first two minutes.

"And if he doesn't it'll be because he'll be carrying him and trying to make the freak show look like a competitive fight.

"I hate the fight. I think it takes away from Mike's legacy when a guy like this comes in and beats him, a YouTuber beating the baddest man on the planet.

"We saw his last fight against Roy Jones Jr. He looked slow, he looked old, everybody saw that. He shouldn't be getting in that ring anymore."

Covington also claimed that footage of Tyson training that emerged recently is actually a few years old, and that the 58-year-old is not currently in great shape.
