BREAKING: Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr back on

BREAKING: Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr back on

Benn and Eubank Jr were supposed to fight last year but was cancelled late on, due to Benn's failed drugs test.

Chris Eubank Jr's clash with Conor Benn is said to be back on, after the pair's fight was originally cancelled last year, due to Benn's failed drugs test.

The two British boxers, both sons of legendary fighters, were due to fight in October last year, but Benn tested positive for drugs ahead of the fight.

Last month the WBC cleared the 26-year-old of the test results, saying there was "no conclusive evidence that Mr. Benn engaged in intentional or knowing ingestion of Clomiphene."

The high number of eggs eaten by the son of the Dark Destroyer, Nigel Benn, was the bizarre reason given for the test originally coming back positive.

And, according to the Sun, the fight is now close to being announced for a June 3rd show down in Abu Dhabi, despite Eubank initially looking like he would seek a rematch with Liam Smith.

Eubank fought Smith back in January, and was expected to come out on top, but the Liverpudlian stopped him in the fourth round.

Afterwards, the former WBA interim middleweight title holder said that he would be activating a rematch clause in their original contract.

However, Smith has claimed that he's never been given confirmation from his former opponent or promoter Kalle Sauerland, leaving him in no man's land.

"One side is saying Chris has activated his rematch clause. But the other side is saying he is fighting Benn in Abu Dhabi," Smith said.

"I bet as much money he wants, if he does fight Chris next, he will not do him quicker than I did him."

Kell Brook was also a potential fight for Eubank Jr, with the pair swapping insults on Saturday night's Boxxer card involving Lawrence Okolie in Manchester.

Eubank Jr and Benn have family ties after their parents fought a heated rivalry over two major fights in the UK in the early 90s, with a drawn second taking place at Old Trafford.

The two sons fighting had captured the imagination of the fans, though Eubank Sr was not impressed with the weight cut his son would have to go through and wanted the fight called off.

He is unlikely to be happy about it being back on in the summer, however, fans will appreciate seeing the two men step in the ring, especially having recently missed out on Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk.
