Floyd Mayweather was all but giving tickets away for fight with Aaron Chalmers

Floyd Mayweather was all but giving tickets away for fight with Aaron Chalmers

Mayweather toyed with Chalmers for eight rounds but there wasn't as many people in attendance as 'Money' might have expected.

Tickets to see Floyd Mayweather take on Aaron Chalmers were virtually being given away, as they desperately tried to fill the empty seats.

Mayweather may have one of the best records of any professional boxer ever, seeing as he went his entire career undefeated at 50-0, but he's turned the next chapter of his boxing career into a farce.

In recent years, and you can include his final professional bout in this, the former four weight world champion has fought an increasing list of useless opponents in exhibition fights.

Logan Paul, KSI's brother and poor Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, whose fight was over in seconds, have all come up against ' Money.'

On Saturday night, it was the latest such farce for Mayweather, as he came face-to-face with Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers, at the 02 Arena.

Newcastle United star Jamaal Lascelles reportedly considered getting tickets to the fight, despite it being less than 24 hours before his side played in their first cup final in 24 years.

The centre back may have been the only one, with huges swathes of empty seats being spotted during the fight in London, which Mayweather obviously won easily.

According to Sky Sports, one ticket-selling agency contacted people over the availability of tickets for just £4.95 on the evening of the fight.

Other reports talked of some fans being offered 20% off tickets and there were different promotional offers available too, as the American's first fight on British soil was delayed in a desperate attempt to fill up some of the empty seats.

Despite the lack of numbers in the crowd, the 46-year-old still complimented his fans in the UK, saying, "I would like to thank all the fans in the UK. The fans are unbelievable... I came to entertain the people and I'm glad I came."

Chalmers, 35-years-old, has had one previous professional boxing fight, though he did also compete in MMA for a while, but Mayweather was quite impressed with the famous tv personality.

"This guy [Chalmers] is tough as nails, we had a chance to come together...He has to continue to work hard and believe in himself. He's got a tough chin - anything is possible."

Fair play to Mayweather, he even tried to make it sound like a proper fight with an actual up and coming boxer, rather than a bit of a laugh.

Still, at least this fight had the man who defeated Manny Pacquiao, Marcos Maidana, Canelo Alvarez, Oscar de la Hoya and many others.

On Sunday night, we have the opportunity to watch the man most famous for his stint on Love Island vs the guy best known for being on the Disney Channel and YouTube, and there's even a belt on the line - boxing has a lot of questions to answer.
