Failure to cut weight behind Dillon Danis' withdrawal from KSI fight

Failure to cut weight behind Dillon Danis' withdrawal from KSI fight

KSI was supposed to be stepping into his latest boxing fight with MMA star Danis in 10 days but now the American has dropped out.

KSI and Dillon Danis were due to fight on January 14th but the MMA star has had to back out of it, with the YouTuber's manager revealing it's down to the American's lack of preparation.

He might have the issue of his drink, Prime, constantly selling out and people getting into blows over the product, but KSI is still getting ready for his latest fight.

The social media star was due to take on MMA fighter Danis, who hasn't actually been in action for three years, with the pair in a heated feud.

Danis turned up to a stream involving the Misfits gym last year, threw a punch at KSI and then launched a cup of coffee at the 29-year-old.

The two men were then involved in an awful back and forth on social media, each insulting the other's mother, after the fight was finally agreed to.

Danis is a bit of a loose cannon and was banned from ringside of his rival's fight with Logan Paul back in 2019, because he was considered too 'high risk,' following a run in with Paul's brother Jake.

With just 10 days to go before the fight was supposed to take place in London, the American has once again proved why he's an issue, by backing out.

Whilst it's not been officially confirmed why he backed out, KSI's manager, Mams Taylor, has claimed an inability to lose weight and ill preparation is why Danis has backed out.

"The real reason from what they [his team] said to me is he's underprepared, has no coach, might be struggling with weight even though there's no rehydration, he has not been able to find a team and he's got other issues," Taylor told Mike Benson.

Unsurprisingly, KSI has already had his say on his opponents decision to back out of the fight, calling the MMA fighter a 'keyboard warrior.'

"This answers the question whether he's a fighter or not," the Londoner said.

"He's a warrior alright, a keyboard warrior, and hopefully he's learnt to leave the real men to speak with their actions rather than hollow words."

FaZe Temperrr will now fight the Londoner at Wembley Arena, with the FaZe Clan member stepping into the ring for the fourth time in his career.

His fellow clan member, FaZe Dee recently got in the ring with KSI's other rival Jake Paul, in a recent sparring session, with the undefeated boxer very complimentary of his opponent at the time.

Danis had already failed to turn up to the press conference for the fight, not exactly helping to sell the pay-per-view between the two.

The MMA fighter, who has a 2-0 record in Bellator but who hasn't fought since 2019, is friends with UFC star Conor McGregor.

The Irishman has stayed out of the feud between his pal and the leader of the Sidemen, claiming that KSI was a "little nerd" and that Danis should be back in MMA.
