Mike Tyson will be "blowing out his a***" in his upcoming exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr, says Carl Froch.

Tyson, 54, is set to return to the ring against fellow boxing icon Jones Jr, 51, in California on September 12.

The eight-round contest will be 'Iron' Mike's first fight since June 2005, but the returning boxing legend looks in supreme shape ahead of his comeback clash.

However, former super-middleweight world champion Froch isn't convinced Tyson is ready to go eight-rounds as he reckons he'll be "blowing out his a***" during the pay-per-view showdown.

Speaking on his podcast, 'The Cobra' said: "Would he lose the plot like he did against Holyfield and take a chunk of the old ear off?

"There could be a danger where he gets really frustrated.

"Those 16-ounce gloves are going to be more difficult to knock his opponent out. And then they're going to be blowing out of their a*** after three or four rounds, surely?"

He added: "We're blowing out of our a*** after four rounds as young professional fighters, we just manage the recovery and breathe differently and go a bit flat-footed through the fight.

"But when you're in your 50s, you're absolutely exhausted and you can't recover. Your fitness is your ability to recover and you can't recover when you're old.

"So, there is a danger of this becoming a no-contest after four rounds, there really is."

The California State Athletic Commission have laid out a specific set of rules for Tyson vs. Jones Jr.

They won't be wearing headgear, but will be wearing larger than normal gloves.

And the bout can only be determined by a knockout with no judges scoring the contest.

It has also been disclosed that the fight will be stopped if either fighter receives a cut.
