Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder engaged in one of the longest - and most bizarre - face-off's in boxing history when the pair came face-to-face for the first time in over a year.

It's fair to say the press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon was a strange one.

To kick things off, a bare-chested Fury strolled into the press conference without a care in the world, while a subdued Wilder just sat there, wearing headphones throughout the 40-minute event.

For the most part, Deontay Wilder's new trainer Malik Scott spoke for his fighter, but The Bronze Bomber did make a short 25-second statement, where he thanked his lord and saviour Jesus Christ, as well as his legal team.

He also said it was "time to cut off his [Fury's] head" as he promised bloodshed in the trilogy fight

Fury, meanwhile, opened up about his game plan for the Las Vegas bout and taunted Malik Scott about bursting his eardrum.


After the fight was 'promoted' between all parties at the event, a bizarre staredown between Fury and Wilder followed as both fighters stared at each other for five minutes and 33 seconds. No, your stream isn't frozen. This actually happened.

It was announced last month that two-time world heavyweight champion Fury will come up against The Bronze Bomber for a third time on July 24 after the American fighter's team won an arbitration hearing.

Fury vs. Wilder 3 was supposed to take place in July 2020 before the pandemic scrapped the contest.

Team Fury claimed the rematch clause in the contract had expired, meaning an undisputed clash with Anthony Joshua appeared to be on the cards. But that was scrapped after the legal dispute went in favour of Wilder.

A trilogy is all set to take place next month but Tuesday's press conference was met with mixed reviews from social media.
