The immense size difference between Canelo Alvarez and Callum Smith was the big takeaway from their first face off ahead of their championship fight.

Canelo and Smith went head-to-head on Tuesday before they collide for the WBA, WBC and The Ring super-middleweight world titles.

And the undefeated British fighter towered over his opponent during their stare-down in San Antonio, Texas.

The Mexican superstar, who stands at 5ft 9in, looked tiny in comparison to the defending world champion who measures in at 6ft 3in.

Naturally, the height difference between Canelo and Smith got boxing fans talking on social media.

One Twitter user wrote: "Wait is he standing on something??? There's no way he's that much taller."

A second tweeted: "Jesus. Didn't realise he was that much taller."

A third added: "Canelo is only less than 1 inch smaller than Ryder who outboxed Smith in his last fight. Now with Canelo's skillset, a whole lot different story."

Canelo, who currently holds the WBA (regular) world super-middleweight title (not to mention the world middleweight titles), will be looking to claim Smith's WBA (super) world title and The Ring strap as well as the vacant WBC belt when they meet on Saturday.

The 53-1-2 boxer hasn't fought since dethroning Sergey Kovalev of the WBO world light-heavyweight title back in November 2019.

As for Smith, the Liverpool man last fought 13 months ago when he controversially outpointed John Ryder.
