Tyron Woodley will "throw" his fight with Jake Paul because he is "broke" and "needs the money" - according to UFC star Colby Covington.

Former UFC welterweight champion Woodley will take on the controversial YouTuber-turned-boxer inside the boxing ring in Miami on August 28 as he looks to be the man to finally shut 3-0 Paul up.

The two went face-to-face for the first time on Friday, with Woodley telling Paul he will knock him out in one round - a prediction that UFC president Dana White is onboard with.

But Covington, who inflicted a technical knockout defeat on Woodley in his final fight inside the Octagon in September 2020, thinks the fight will pan out very differently.

Branding the bout "a circus", he claims that Woodley will throw his boxing debut and is only doing it for a sizable purse after seeing Ben Askren take home his biggest ever pay packet in his first round knockout loss to Paul.

"But they're doing this on purpose, and I really think Tyron is going out there to take a dive," Covington said.

"I think he's broke. He needs the money. He's got mouths to feed. He's got a lot of alimony paychecks to pay. So I think he's just going to go out there and take a dive.

"It's going to be a circus, and we know boxing is the most corrupt sport in the world as it is. So this little side circus they're doing with Jake Paul, of course they're going to favor his way to make it a work."

Meanwhile Floyd Mayweather, who has been embroiled in beef with both Paul brothers and squares off against elder brother Logan in an eight round exhibition this weekend, has offered to train Woodley for the licensed boxing bout.

'Money' revealed he has reached out to propose for Woodley to come to his Las Vegas gym and T-Wood is well up for it.

"Give me Tyron Woodley. I will make sure I get in camp and train him for this fight," said Mayweather, per Boxing Scene.

"I want Tyron Woodley to come to Las Vegas and work with us."

Woodley added that he received a text message from Mayweather and the two had had a follow-up conversation.

"[Mayweather] just texted me, let's do it," Woodley said. "I just talked to him today so for sure, why would I not train with the greatest boxer of all time?

"He's already my dog and we've been talking about training anyway, so for sure. I'm definitely going to take him up on that."
