Tyson Fury Trying To Get John Fury On Dillian Whyte Undercard

Tyson Fury Trying To Get John Fury On Dillian Whyte Undercard

World heavyweight champion Fury wants to see his dad on the undercard of his defence against Whyte at Wembley next month.

Tyson Fury's dad John Fury could be fighting on the undercard of the world champion's defence against Dillian Whyte next month, because his son is trying to make it happen.

The younger Fury is set for a homecoming world title defence on April 23rd at Wembley, his first fight in England since his comeback bout in 2018.

It will be a huge event at England football team's home and will likely bring a sell out raucous crowd to see the world champion for the first time.

Fans don't yet know who will be fighting on the undercard of the pay-per-view show but they could be in for a treat, with Tyson revealing he's trying to get his dad a fight.

"I’m trying to get John on the undercard to be honest," the Gypsy King, who is fighting someone who isn't Deontay Wilder for the first time since 2019, told Queensbury promotions.

"We’re still working on that.

"Frank [Warren] is working very hard behind the scenes, it’s not been announced but I’m just going to give you a little sneaky preview.

"Big John, trying to get him on the undercard. So yeah, don’t be surprised."

Fury senior had a professional boxing career from 1987-1995, finishing with a record of 8-4-1, but he is best known for his personality in supporting both Tyson and Tommy Fury.

The 57-year-old hasn't exactly been scared of calling people out during his time in front of the television cameras, starting a fight with Jake Paul on a television screen.

He recently argued with Irish boxing legend Carl Frampton for claiming Tommy would lose to Paul, but most famously he called out former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

The claim came in 2020 when the one time 'most dangerous man on the planet' had revealed he was making his comeback, which led to him facing Roy Jones Jr.

Fury said, "Listen, I'd like to have a go...I know one thing, he'll be in no better shape than me. Because I tell you what it is, I've got the edge in shape because I've lived better, I've lived cleaner.

"...I'd like to have a go me, because I'm big and strong and game and that's all you need to be. He's past his best. And me, the edge I've got is I've lived right. I don't drink, don't smoke, I don't do things I shouldn't do and I train every day."

Of course the fight never happened, but the older Fury could now be getting into the ring on April 23rd, one person it's unlikely to be against is Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn.

Hearn predicted Whyte will become champion and, asked if his dad could fight his rival promoter, Tyson Fury responded, "No. My dad would chin Eddie Hearn in one round, within 30 seconds."

Who wouldn't want to watch that?
