Up to 16 Manchester City players could feature during the first round of FIFA World Cup fixtures in Qatar this week.

A large proportion of the Manchester City squad will be in action at the FIFA World Cup this week.

The tournament begins on Sunday evening, when host nation Qatar face Ecuador at the Al Bayt Stadium.

16 Manchester City players were selected to represent their countries in the Middle East, as domestic football across Europe pauses for over a month.

The Sky Blues suffered a frustrating 2-1 loss to Brentford in their final Premier League match last weekend, as Ivan Toney scored twice at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola's side return to action in the Carabao Cup on Thursday 22nd December, when City host Liverpool in round four.

With the majority of the City squad competing at the World Cup, here is a guide to when Manchester City players could feature during the opening round of Group Stage fixtures.

Tuesday 22nd November - One Manchester City Player

Group C: Argentina vs Saudi Arabia (10:00 GMT) - Julian Alvarez.

Wednesday 23rd November - Four Manchester City Players

Group E: Germany vs Japan (13:00 GMT) - Ilkay Gundogan.
