Teenage Cricketer Pulls Off 'The Greatest Dropped Catch Ever' Using Incredible Footwork

"Village cricket at its ridiculous, amateurish, but brilliant best."

A teenage cricketer has pulled off an absolutely incredible dismissal dubbed 'the greatest dropped catch ever'. Watch the video below:

Alex Ryder, 16, took the one-in-a-million catch while playing for Aldwick Cricket Club in a friendly against Lingfield Cricket Club.

Ryder initially fluffed a caught and bowled opportunity, letting the ball bounce out of his hands after attempting a catch.

But then in a moment of brilliance, or perhaps sheer luck, Ryder managed to kick the ball up in the air before it lands before eventually catching it at the second attempt.

The moment, which was caught on video by a stump camera, has gone viral on social media after being uploaded to Twitter by Aldwick Cricket Club, along with the caption: "Presenting the greatest dropped catch ever!!"

Fans were quick to praise Ryder on social media, with one Twitter user commenting: "That's talent - footballing as much as cricketing talent, for sure!"

Another fan added: "Village cricket at its ridiculous, amateurish, but brilliant best."

Sky Sports commentator Gary Taphouse added: "Stunning bit of footwork, just not from the batsman."

Ryder's teammate Dion Sampson also wrote: "When 1 of your own youngsters does this… drops a sitter, catches a screamer, eat your heart out @benstokes38."

Aldwick would go on to win the match by six wickets, with Ryder taking 2-25 from his six overs.

Lingfield scored 171-7 from their 40 overs, before Aldwick chased down their target inside 29 overs.
