Belgium take on Portugal in a mouthwatering fixture as the two European heavyweights go head-to-head for a place in the Euro 2020 quarter-finals.

Portugal may have managed to survive the 'Group of Death', but their task tonight will not get any easier as they take on the Belgians, the top-ranked team in the world.

If the Portuguese beat Belgium, they will go one step closer to retaining their European crown that they won so impressively back in 2016 - but it won't be easy.

The holders were made to sweat on Wednesday night and were on the verge of heading out of the tournament when they trailed to France and with Hungary leading against Germany.

But once again, it was their talisman and captain Cristiano Ronaldo who rode to the rescue as he smashed home his second penalty of the night to salvage a 2-2 draw.

The Selecao will need to be on top form to beat a Belgium side who came through the group stages with a perfect record thanks to wins over Russia, Denmark and Finland.

With the knockout stages now underway, our tipster Robert Mann takes a look at some of the best bets from Belgium vs Portugal to get your teeth stuck into.

Belgium vs Portugal betting tips & predictions

Belgium are 7/5 to win, with Portugal priced at 19/10 to come away with the victory. A draw is priced at 23/10.

Prediction: 2-1 (8/1)

To win: Belgium (7/5)

Belgium have never really ventured out of first gear during their opening three games - but we reckon they might try and make a statement against defending champions Portugal this evening.

After brushing aside Hungary, Portugal were outclassed by Germany and then had to battle it out with France to avoid being eliminated at the group stages.

Belgium, meanwhile, have had two extra days to prepare for this last-16 showdown as their group ended on Monday, whereas Portugal's ended on Wednesday.

With that said, the Belgians have the momentum after three wins so far and the effort Portugal put in against France may well have left some of the players fatigued.

To score anytime: Cristiano Ronaldo (13/10)

Let's face it, Cristiano Ronaldo can do no wrong at the moment - and we're backing the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to put at least one past Belgium tonight.

The 36-year-old, who is widely regarded one the best strikers in the world, became the highest goalscorer in European Championship history just ten days ago. Talk about impressive.

And with the Golden Boot on his mind, we reckon the Portuguese maestro might have a trick or two up his sleeve, especially with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.

First Goalscorer: Romelu Lukaku (7/2)

Scoring 30 goals in 44 games across all competitions for Inter Milan, Romelu Lukaku's record at the international level is also outstanding - 62 goals from 94 caps.

The Inter striker hit a brace against the Russians and was on target in the win over Finland, while he also saw a goal chalked off for offside.

Cristiano Ronaldo may be leading the race for the Golden Boot award with five goals so far, but Lukaku is also in the running with three to etched to his name - and we fancy him to draw first blood tonight.

Belgium team news

Roberto Martinez is likely to play Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard alongside Romelu Lukaku in the final third of the field, with Dries Mertens, benched.

Dedryck Boyata should get the nod over Jason Denayer to start in the back three, while Thorgan Hazard is likely to keep out Yannick Carrasco, featuring as the left-sided wing-back.

Youri Tielemans was an unused substitute against Finland, but will be back is predicted to be back in the side for this match.

Portugal team news

Nelson Semedo had been expected to miss out with the problem that he picked up against France.

Danilo Pereira is also a doubt with the blow to the face that he suffered against the world champions, but the midfielder is being tipped to overcome the issue.

As a result, midfield maestro Bruno Fernandes could again be named on the bench, with manager Fernando Santos likely to stick with the 4-3-3 formation that worked well on Wednesday.
