Italy take on Austria in the second knockout game of the European Championships tonight

Italy could set a new national record if they overcome Austria in the last-16 of Euro 2020 tonight.

The Italians were, arguably, the most impressive side during the group stages - advancing through to the knockouts after winning all three of their matches in Group A.

After last Sunday's 1-0 triumph over Wales, the Azzuri equalled their all-time record unbeaten run of 30 matches in a row - and they can go one better tonight.

Roberto Mancini's imperious side can - if all goes their way, of course - break that record at Wembley Stadium against Group C runners-up Austria.

Following wins against North Macedonia and Ukraine, the Austrians advanced through to the knockout stages of a European Championships for the very first time. This year's dark horses? Don't hold your breath.

The winner of tonight's last-16 tie will book their place in the quarter-finals, where they will either take on reigning champions Portugal or the world's top-ranked side, Belgium.

With the knockout stages now underway, our tipster Robert Mann takes a look at some of the best bets from Italy vs Austria to get your teeth stuck into.

Italy vs Austria betting tips & predictions

Italy are 4/9 to win, with Austria priced at 13/2 to come away with the victory. A draw is priced at 16/5.

Prediction: 3-0 (17/2)

To win to nil: Italy (6/5)

Italy have not tasted defeat since losing 1-0 to Portugal in the UEFA Nations League back in September 2018. That's some impressive run, right?

Since then, they have won their last 30 games in emphatic style, putting them on the cusp of breaking a record that has stood for over 80 years. Could this be the best Italian side in years? Perhaps.

The four-time world champions only need to avoid defeat on Saturday to set a new national unbeaten record of 31 matches. Bellissimo.

Even more impressively, the Italians have remarkably won each of their last 11 fixtures without conceding a goal, hence our win to nil tip for this fixture.

Austria did manage to keep a clean sheet in their last group match against Ukraine, but it seems unlikely that they will be able to do it against this star-studded Italian team.

First Goalscorer: Ciro Immobile (7/2)

Ciro Immobile got the tournament off to a flying start after finding the back of the net in both of his appearances against Turkey and Switzerland, before he was rested for Sunday's final group clash with Wales.

Over the last two seasons with Lazio, Immobile has also scored an astonishing 64 club goals, while his conversion rate at Euro 2020 is one of the best - with two goals having come from just three shots on target.

For that reason, we're backing the Italian talisman to score first tonight at attractive odds of 7/2.

Request A Bet: Italy to win, Italy most corners in each half and Italy most shots on target in each half (9/4)

Austria will certainly be facing an uphill task when they take to the field on Saturday and it's difficult to see beyond Italy enjoying a record-breaking night at Wembley.

We're backing the Italians to do it in style, too, and a win, most corners and most shots on target in each half sounds like a pretty solid bet to us.

For us, this is an absolute banker and we're confident that this tip will pay for the beers this evening. Thank us later.

Italy team news

Roberto Mancini has to make a decision in midfield with Marco Verrati proving his fitness in their last game.

Manuel Locatelli - increasingly linked with a big-money move to Juventus - is likely to get the nod in a midfield three with Jorginho and Nicolo Barella.

Giorgio Chiellini looks like he will not start as he continues to recover from injury, with Francesco Acerbi likely to deputies.

Ciro Immobile, Domenico Berardi and Lorenzo Insigne will return as the front three.

Austria team news

Austria look like they will keep the 4-3-3 line-up used in their last game after struggling with three at the back.

This means David Alaba will have more freedom to go forward from left-back, with Stefan Lainer on the other side.

Meanwhile, Marko Arnautovic will likely start in a front three alongside Julian Baumgartlinger and Martin Hinteregger.
