Arsenal fans think pigeon 'robbed them' of win against Southampton after new footage emerges

Arsenal fans think pigeon 'robbed them' of win against Southampton after new footage emerges

Fans have taken to social media after they spotted goalkeeper Ramsdale lose concentration right before conceding against Southampton.

Arsenal fans have noticed an error from their keeper Aaron Ramsdale during the game versus Southampton in the Premier League.

The Gunners were on for a 1-0 victory but conceded to Stuart Armstrong on their way to a 1-1 draw at St.Mary's stadium back two weekends ago.

It denied Mikel Arteta's side from extending their lead at the top of the table and now sit just two points clear of a rampant Manchester City.

Ramsdale has transformed his own personal form following his back-to-back relegations with Sheffield United and Bournemouth, but has still made the occasional mistake.

But he may need to explain what on earth happened prior to the Armstrong equaliser against Southampton.

Arsenal had led through the resurgent Granit Xhaka for over 50 minutes before the Saints cut through their midfield and defence to equalise.

However, weeks later, an eagerly-eyed fan has noticed Ramsdale's attention being in the crowd just before the equaliser.

What happens is he takes two long looks to the left, just as Mohamed Elyounoussi is poised to play in the Scot.

It wasn't seen at the time, as many fans were focused on how slowly Ramsdale came out of his goal to block down the angles - something that he usually does incredibly well.

Most likely he was checking his position in reference to his right hand post, but it's certainly a strange time to check for such an experienced keeper.

One fan reacted at the time claiming: '70% of PL GK’s save that btw.'

Whilst another claimed he had been distracted looking at a women in the crowd: 'He's kind of alluded to his concentration issues before. However, it also looks like he took a gamble in that direction to make sure that the ball didn't hit the bird.'

This weekend sees Arsenal involved in a derby game with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, which could stand as their toughest test so far.

The Blues are 10 points off the pace at the top of the table but will be hoping to close the gap to Newcastle in fourth, who sit three points ahead having played a game more.
