Africa Cup Of Nations Referee Goes Viral For The Strangest Running Technique We've Ever Seen

Africa Cup Of Nations Referee Goes Viral For The Strangest Running Technique We've Ever Seen

Viewers at home were stunned.

The referee in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau has gone viral for having one of the strangest runs we've ever seen.

Umar Sadiq and William Troost-Ekong scored in the second half to maintain the Super Eagles' 100% record in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The standout moment from the game however was official Peter Waweru and his running technique. It must be seen to be believed.

Waweru gets his arms and legs incredibly high with every stride, which also covered an insane amount of distance.

The clip has earned nearly 60,000 likes at the time of writing and fans around the world have reacted.

One commented: "The referee thought he was part of the counter attack."

Another added: "Get this man in the Barclays as soon as possible."

A third put: "That guy was so dramatic, I didn't know somebody else noticed it.

While someone stated: "Some clean run that, like he's chasing a taxi."

The fun didn't stop there however. At full time, the Kenyan then chose to blow the most dramatic whistle.

Imagine Mike Dean busting that out during an early kick-off? Great stuff.

Waweru is a Professor in maths and currently lectures at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

Nigeria finish top of Group D and have looked convincing throughout the entire tournament.

Egypt have come second after defeating Sudan in their final group game.

The tournament has already thrown up some shocks, with current holders Algeria being eliminated in the group stages.

Djamel Belmadi's side lost 3-1 to Ivory Coast on Thursday thanks to goals from Franck Kessie, Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Pepe.

Algeria had entered the tournament on a 34-game unbeaten run but picked up just a single point in Cameroon.
