Liverpool Set Price Tag For Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Liverpool want £10m for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Liverpool are prepared to take a significant hit on the £35 million they spent on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in 2017 and are willing to sell the Englishman for £10 million, according to Liverpool Echo

The former Arsenal man enjoyed a strong start to his Liverpool career, scoring a memorable brace in the 2018 Champions League quarter-final home leg against Manchester City. However, since then, his development has plateaued, and he has failed to rediscover his pre-injury form after tearing his ACL shortly after the aforementioned quarter final.

Consequently, Liverpool are listening to offers for the 28-year-old this summer. With the Merseyside club linked to the likes of PSV’s Ibrahim Sangare and Barcelona starlet Gavi, the midfielder will be left surplus to requirements at Anfield. His time is up.

Over the last few days, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with a move to Manchester United and West Ham. United need to add depth to their midfield following the departures of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, and Juan Mata, while West Ham will need to provide reinforcement to their engine room if Declan Rice is to depart this summer.

Liverpool are also looking to raise as much capital as they can over the next few weeks. The club look set to sign Benfica forward Darwin Nuñez in a deal which could cost the Reds up to £85 million. Their pursuit of a new star midfielder with stars such as Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, and James Milner well within the twilight year of their careers.

Oxlade-Chamberlain isn’t the only Red to be linked with a move away from Anfield this summer. Sadio Mané will join Bayern Munich if the German giants can provide an adequate offer. Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino also look to be on the way out.

The sale of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain won’t bring spectacular funds to Liverpool, but now feels the right time for a natural parting of ways between the club and player. Pastures new could transform him back into the player who looked dead certain to start at the 2018 World Cup for England.
