Allan Saint Maximin gifts Rolex watch to Newcastle fan after opening day victory

Allan Saint Maximin gifts Rolex watch to Newcastle fan after opening day victory

Newcastle got off to the perfect start in the Premier League.

Newcastle star Allan Saint Maximin was seen gifting a watch to a fan after his side’s opening day victory against Nottingham Forest.

After helping his side record a 2-0 win over newly promoted Forest, Saint Maximin was in a generous mood as he handed a Rolex to a Newcastle fan who was holding a French flag with the winger’s name and number on.

You can watch the footage here.

The fan, Steve Dutton, who was on the end of the kind gesture by Saint Maximin said on Twitter: “I was the person who was gifted the watch from ASM. I was totally speechless. I thought he was coming to sign autographs and have pictures taken with the kids. I’m still in shock, I can’t thank @saintmaximin enough.”

This wasn’t the first time Saint Maximin gifted a watch to a fan, he did the exact same thing back in December of 2021.

Newcastle had just recorded their first Premier League win of the season against Burnley and handed a fan a watch worth £2,000 after the game

The fan, Michael Urwin spoke to Chronicle Live after receiving the gift from Saint Maximin

He said: "He got out of his car and came over to where I was standing and handed me a box and said 'This is for you'. I was shaking, to be honest with you, but he was pretty excited and was just saying 'Open it, open it!”

Since his arrival at St. James Park, Saint Maximin has been a fans’ favourite as his dazzling skills and tremendous speed captured the hearts of the Newcastle faithful.

He was instrumental once again during the match against Forest, he gave Steve Cooper’s defence a torrid time, especially right back Neco Williams, who struggled to deal with the sheer speed of the French winger.

Fabian Schar’s stunning long range effort gave Eddie Howe’s side the lead in the 58th minute, Forest put in a brave performance as they searched for the equaliser. However, a goal in the 78th minute by Callum Wilson ensured all three points were to remain at St. James Park.

There is renewed optimism within the Newcastle fan base after a strong showing towards the end of last season.

After spending big money on the likes of Nick Pope, Sven Botman and Matt Targett, the fans are expecting a top half finish as the bare minimum, with some hoping the team can push for a place in European football.

Howe hinted the club's transfer window might not be over, he said: “I love the individuals we have, but I’d like to add some more quality to that if possible.”

Next up for Newcastle will be Brighton next Saturday.
