Andrea Pirlo Gets Second Chance At Management After Being Sacked By Juventus

Andrea Pirlo Gets Second Chance At Management After Being Sacked By Juventus

The Italy legend is back in the game.

Andrea Pirlo will soon be back in the dugout after being named the new manager of Turkish outfit, Fatih Karagumruk, a year after being sacked by Juventus

The midfield maestro was given the Juventus job two years ago but he was relieved of his duties after just one season. Under the guidance of their former player, the Turin club endured an underwhelming season, they just about managed to sneak into the top four, despite winning Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana, he was sacked.

And now, having taken a year away from the game, Pirlo is back in a bid to restart his managerial career. He will lead Turkish Super Lig side Fatih Karagumruk, who finished eighth in the 21/22 campaign.

Karagumruk only reached the top tier of Turkish football in 2020, within their ranks, they have former Liverpool man Fabio Borini, Ex Leicester City winger Ahmed Musa and one time Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano.

Pirlo’s main objective is to bring the team up the league table and challenge the teams at the top with the club aiming to win the Super Lig title.

In a statement, the club said: “The world-famous football man recently coached Juventus, one of the most important clubs in Europe. Having also had Champions League experience with Juventus, Pirlo signed the contract that made him a member of Karagumruk for 1 year, starting on 1 July.”

“Andrea Pirlo's press conference will be held on Tuesday, June 14, and the place and time will be announced later by our club. We welcome our coach Andrea Pirlo and wish him success.”

At first, Pirlo was due to be in charge of Juventus’ U23 side but was given the top job after the club sacked Maurizio Sarri. During his time at the helm, Pirlo won 34 games out of 52, losing eight times.

Despite sacking him, the Bianconeri were always confident of his managerial credentials. At the time of sacking Pirlo, they said: “Pirlo has just begun the first steps of what will no doubt become a brilliant career as a coach. An adventure of transformation, seeking, and often managing, to bring his ideas and his experience as a champion on the pitch from the 'other side' of the fence.”

“And since in football, what counts are the victories, let's remember them: in the space of a few short months Pirlo's Juve has raised two trophies: The Italian Supercup and the Coppa Italia.”

“For all this, for the courage, the dedication, the passion with which he demonstrated every day, our thanks go to the Maestro, the Coach and to Andrea, that really comes from the heart. As well as our good luck for the future that will surely be a wonderful one.”
