Real Madrid plotting shock £40m bid for Liverpool fan favourite, Jurgen Klopp won't want to lose him

Real Madrid plotting shock £40m bid for Liverpool fan favourite, Jurgen Klopp won't want to lose him

This came out of nowhere.

Real Madrid are plotting a move for one Liverpool 'fan favourite' this summer, according to reports.

Liverpool have endured a turbulent season in Merseyside and look set to miss out on Champions League football for the first time since 2016.

In turn, Jurgen Klopp is expected to make major changes to his squad this summer, with a number of players expected to leave Anfield.

The club confirmed that Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita would all leave the club at the end of the season.

However, the latest name to be rumoured with a shock exit is Andy Robertson, with the 29-year-old reportedly on Real Madrid's list of potential targets.

Robertson to Real Madrid?

Spanish giants Real Madrid are in the market for a left-back this summer in preparation for the expected departure of France international Ferland Mendy.

They have been heavily linked with a move for Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies, but the German club have insisted he is not for sale at any price and are hopeful of extending his contract which runs out in 2025.

Subsequently, Los Blancos have turned their attention to Robertson as a potential alternative, according to the Daily Mail.

Capped 62 times for Scotland, he has won Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup since joining Liverpool from Hull City in 2017.

The report states that Robertson would cost well over £40 million due to his "world class" status.

However, Klopp is unlikely to be willing to let him go, having relied heavily on the defender over the past six seasons.

While the player himself, who is under contract until 2026, has shown no inclination to leave.

In addition, Klopp may be even less resistant to dealing with to the 14-time Champions League winners after they beat the Reds to the signing of Aurelien Tchouameni last summer, and appear to be close to doing the same with Jude Bellingham.
