'Angry' Lionel Messi 'Wanted To Kill' Paris Saint-Germain Teammate Who Wanted 'To Go Home'
The incident happened during a meeting between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, where the Ligue One outfit ran out 4-1 winners courtesy of a Kylian Mbappe hat-trick and a Moise Kean strike.
Messi, who had opened the scoring in the Champions League round of 16 clash with a penalty, did not like a foul Paredes committed on him during the humbling defeat.
But on top of that, Messi heard a comment Paredes made to one of his teammates and that's what got the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner's blood boiling.
As per Paredes, Messi "wanted to kill" his compatriot and the former Roma man was a little taken aback.
"He got angry, because I had made a comment to my teammates and he heard me, and he got angry," Paredes told Caja Negra, as per MARCA.
"He was really angry. He f***ed me up. It was bad. He wanted to kill me and I wanted to go home."
Messi losing his head on the pitch is relatively rare but not one to hold a grudge, he had completely forgotten about the mini bust-up by the time the two linked up on international duty with Argentina.
And having become close friends, the pair are able to see the funny side over their flare-up.
"Afterwards I saw him in the national team and he acted as if nothing had happened," he added.
"He showed me what he is like as a person. The relationship continued as it was. Now, when the conversation comes up, we talk about it and laugh, but he was really angry [then].
"He wanted to kill me."
Messi and Paredes would become club and country colleagues a few months later when the Barcelona legend left the Camp Nou on a free transfer after they were unable to register his new contract.
Messi signed a two-year contract at the Parc des Princes and won Ligue One in his first season despite a fairly underwhelming campaign by his usual high standards.
Messi scored 11 times in all competitions and laid on 15 assists for teammates.
