Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier were involved in a fiery altercation during the Premier League clash between Newcastle and Everton on Wednesday night.
In what was a cagey affair, it was Miguel Almiron who drew first blood as his stunning goal in the 31st minute gave the hosts the lead.
Just before half time, temper flared as Everton winger Gordon went down softly after a challenge by Magpies centre-back Dan Burn inside the penalty area.

The nature of Gordon’s fall angered Trippier, who marched towards the Everton man to let the player know his feelings. Gordon was also angered by Trippier’s actions as the pair came face to face before Trippier’s teammate, Fabian Schar intervened and pushed Gordon away several times.
Moments later, the matter descended into chaos as 17 players from both sides were on the scene, the likes of Nick Pope, Bruno Guimaraes and Amadou Onana were all shoved.
After the halftime whistle, Trippier and Jordan Pickford were seen having words on their way towards the tunnel as tensions remained high after the altercation between Gordon and the England fullback.

Newcastle showed their grit and determination in the second half as they held on for a hard-fought 1-0 victory.
After the match, both managers spoke about the incident involving Gordon.
Magpies boss Eddie Howe said: “My view at the time, and I haven’t seen a replay of it, was that it was shoulder to shoulder. I thought Dan pulled his arms away if anything as contact was made, so naturally, I’m going to say no penalty, but I haven’t seen it again.”
Whilst Toffees manager Frank Lampard felt a penalty should have been given.

He said: “I thought it was a penalty. I worry that he’ll not get penalties because people are talking about him a lot last season.
“If you ask me if it’s a foul, it’s a nudge in the back – and contact on the foot. For me, that’s a penalty. I’m not saying it’s a clear one, but when you can look back on VAR, it’s a penalty.”
Next up for Newcastle will be a tough test against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday whilst Everton host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Saturday.
