Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger Has Gone Viral For The Strangest Piece Of Defending You'll Ever See

Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger Has Gone Viral For The Strangest Piece Of Defending You'll Ever See

Fans are still trying to work out what Rudiger was attempting.

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has gone viral for a peculiar piece of defending in Sunday’s win over Newcastle.

Chelsea put their current financial difficulties to one side to beat the Magpies 1-0 at Stamford Bridge, thanks a late goal from Kai Havertz.

Rudiger successfully marshalled the Chelsea defence to a clean sheet alongside centre-back partner Andreas Christensen.

Rudiger has developed a reputation for being one of the Premier League's most unique characters and the Germany international has now gone viral after fans spotted a baffling moment from him during Sunday's match.

After beating Newcastle forward Miguel Almiron to a through ball, Rudiger runs back towards his goal while in possession.

He then appears to attempt some sort of bizarre jump, to the delight of the home support.

Fans on social media also found the moment hilarious, with one supporter joking: "He’s like you ain’t catching me so might as well stretch my legs out."

Another wrote: "What goes through Rudiger’s mind man."

Rudiger has become a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge for his all-action performances and his occasionally bizarre behaviour.

In a match against Leicester earlier this season, Rudiger bit his team-mate Reece James on the head after the England international opened the scoring.

Fans spotted more strange behaviour from the German in the Club World Cup Final win over Palmeiras.

After Havertz had scored the winning goal late on, Rudiger celebrated in unusual style by pulling a photographer's chair over the advertising boards before punching the corner flag.

Never change Antonio.
