Manchester United CEO appears to confirm they will sign Antony

Erik ten Hag is hoping to reunite with Ajax forward Antony this summer and the club's CEO Richard Arnold seemed to say it would happen.

Manchester United CEO Richard Arnold gave the impression that the club would be signing Antony from Ajax, in front of a number of the team's fans.

The end of the transfer window could be a very hectic thing at Old Trafford, as United attempt to get the signings over the line they should have done weeks ago.

A panic seems to have set in to get the deals done that was induced half by the crushing defeats to Brighton and Brentford, which left them bottom of the Premier League table, and the protests against the Glazers, with Jim Ratcliffe showing interest in buying the club.

With Casemiro already signed by Erik ten Hag's team, it seems that boosting the forward line is the next priority for the Dutch manager.

His number one target for the role is Antony, which would see him reunited with a former player for the second time this summer, with the Brazilian reportedly handing in a transfer request at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Now Arnold seems to have admitted that is going to happen, giving a subtle nod and a 'yes,' when one fan shouted the question of if it was going to happen whilst at Old Trafford.

United have already taken Ten Hag and Lisandro Martinez from Amsterdam this summer and now it seems like Antony will be the third arrival.

The 22-year-old has already impressed this season with a goal against Groningen and a piece of skill that took out three opposing defenders.

He has seemingly been the favoured forward signing since the club missed out on Darwin Nunez, who moved to Liverpool instead.

In typical fashion, United have also been linked with a number of other forwards this summer, including Marko Arnautovic and Alvaro Morata, and PSV's Cody Gakpo is apparently the next option if Antony doesn't sign.

Ten Hag did even try to steal a signing from his former club, with Brian Brobbey revealing the 52-year-old messaged him about a move to the Premier League.

Brobbey spent the second half of last season back at Ajax, having moved from there to RB Leipzig, but decided to move there permanently again, rather than join United.
