Lionel Scaloni wants to give Barcelona star an Argentine passport

Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has revealed he would give Barcelona star Pedri an Argentine passport so that he can play for the World Cup winners.

During the tournament in Qatar, a lot of Argentina players produced stellar performances, including the likes of Lionel Messi, Enzo Fernandes and Alexis Mac Allister.

The Argentina boss went on to pick Pedri, stating that he would give him an Argentine passport.

He said: “I would give Pedri an Argentine passport. I don’t know if he would play as a starter, but I would choose him.”

Last year’s Golden Boy winner Pedri has been lighting up the stage for Barcelona this season as he has been producing some scintillating performances.

Scaloni also said that Barcelona have a chance of winning La Liga this season.

He added: “Barcelona is a good team, they have signed very well and have the level to win La Liga.”

The 44-year-old also reflect on the World Cup final, revealing that his emotions got the better of him during the team talk.

Scaloni said: “The World Cup was like a movie and an incredible journey. The key to the whole tournament was to have enjoyed it, knowing how difficult it was and that anyone could win it.

“Until the 80th minute it was a spectacular match but from then on it was different. I have the images and the match in my head. It was a pity we didn't close it out in 90 minutes because it would have been unfair for France to score a goal at the end of extra time.

“The team talk in the final was very emotional. I got emotional and couldn't go on. We felt it was a spectacular moment.”
