Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Called 'Pathetic' For Playing You'll Never Walk Alone At Training

Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Called 'Pathetic' For Playing You'll Never Walk Alone At Training

The Arsenal manager played the famous Liverpool anthem at Arsenal training to get them ready for the trip to Merseyside.

Mikel Arteta has been branded as 'pathetic,' following the scene in the docuseries about Arsenal in which he played 'You'll Never Walk Alone' in training ahead of the Liverpool game.

On Friday, the Amazon Prime Video series 'All or Nothing,' which followed Arsenal all of last series, in a behind the scenes documentary, was finally released.

The first three episodes came out for Prime members but in the days leading up to it fans were given some early snapshots of what happens, including a very emotional team talk from the club's photographer.

However, the one moment that caught the attention more than any other was Arteta's decision to play Liverpool's famous anthem at training.

In the clip, the manager says the one stadium he had issues with was Anfield so he decides to bring in a bunch of speakers in an attempt to recreate the noise and get his team used to it.

It didn't exactly work as a tactic, and now Gabby Agbonlahor has gone in on the Gunners' boss, calling him 'pathetic.'

"First of all, this documentary is going to be funnier than a Kevin Hart standup," the former Aston Villa forward brutally said on talkSPORT.

"That ['You'll Never Walk Alone' playing] is the most pathetic thing I’ve seen. If I was on that pitch training I would probably find it funny. You’d be laughing with your team-mates.

"When they are playing in the Europa League and playing Fenerbahce away, are they going to get flares for the training ground and drums.

Someone coming in to play drums while they are training?

“Honestly, it’s ridiculous. The players are not going to be on board with that.

"They lost the game by how many goals, was it 4-0? These are international players who have played in big atmospheres.

"I’m baffled."

Whilst most people were left baffled by Arteta's decision, it apparently didn't go down like a lead balloon in the Arsenal dressing room.

Fullback Cedric Soares had initially revealed the story about the speakers, and he was actually impressed, saying, "Mikel tried to prepare it as much as he could and his idea was to bring speakers and create a bit of chaos during training so the players needed to adapt straight away.

"It's good also for the players to have something different in training and also for this in your mind. They will be there, they will be loud, but we still need to do our job."

I mean you lost 4-0 Cedric, maybe it wasn't that good...
