'This is different' – Arsenal fans look like European ultras as they show off new chant

It is fair to say Arsenal fans are enjoying themselves at the moment.

Mikel Arteta side's 4-1 demolition of Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon saw the Gunners stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points.

Bukayo Saka bagged a brace while Gabriel Martinelli and Granit Xhaka also got on the scoresheet to give the Gunners a boost going into the international break.

Manchester City, however, do have a game in hand, having been in FA Cup action at the weekend.

There is a different feel about Arsenal this season – and it seems that includes the fans as well, as one supporter on Twitter captured the incredible scenes around the Emirates Stadium before kick-off on Sunday.

The video, posted just after 1.30pm on Sunday before the 2pm kick-off, sees hundreds of Arsenal fans walking towards the ground through a tunnel in north London.

Flares and smoke bombs are being let off – in the style of the 'ultras' supporters that are famous throughout parts of Italy and eastern Europe – while the Arsenal fans sing their new version of the 'allez, allez, allez' chant.

Liverpool fans will recognise the tune of the chant, but of course Gooners have adapted it to champion their current squad, led by Arteta.

The former City assistant is working wonders at the Emirates this season and it seems he's having a major affect on the Arsenal fanbase, with the atmosphere in the stadium now electric for most matches.

One Arsenal fan replied to the video on social media saying: "Love what we've become, we aren't timid and voiceless no more." And judging by these scenes, he's right.

The lyrics of the chant are:

"We won the league at Anfield, we won it at the Lane,

"Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford, no one can say the same.

"Mikel Arteta’s army, we’re Arsenal through and through,

"We’ll sing it in the North Bank, and in the Clock End too.

"Allez, Allez, Allez, Allez, Allez, Allez..."
