Declan Rice set for "different challenge" as Arsenal and Chelsea's transfer stance revealed

Romano has outlined the player's next step.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed Declan Rice's transfer stance amid interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Rice has been rumoured with a move away from the Hammers this summer, after rejecting multiple offers to stay at the club.

Meanwhile, London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea have established themselves as the favourites for his signature.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is said to have identified the 23-year-old as his 'top target' this summer, after missing out on signing Moises Caicedo in January.

Whilst it is claimed Rice is keen on a move to the league leaders, finding the prospect of playing in the Champions League 'exciting'.

However, the Blues have a long-standing interest in the midfielder, with Rice having played for their academy before joining West Ham.

Rice's transfer stance revealed

Romano has now lifted the lid on his understanding of Rice's situation, revealing that he is ready for a "different challenge".

The England international is thought to be worth around £80 million, according to The Times. Although West Ham are yet to put a figure on their prized asset.

“Many clubs love Declan Rice and he’s super appreciated on the market,” the Italian journalist said on his YouTube channel.

“Arsenal really appreciate the player. The same for Chelsea. We know the connection between Chelsea and Rice. These clubs have internally discussed about [signing] Rice.

“But at the moment, nothing has been discussed with West Ham — and a lot will depend on them and how much they will ask [for the player] in the summer.

“The feeling around Rice is that this summer will be an opportunity for him to try something different.

“Rice did not want to sign a new contract with West Ham last year and this is still the case. The feeling for Rice is that now is the time to go and try a different challenge.”
