The reason why Arsenal vs Everton will not be shown on TV in the UK

The reason why Arsenal vs Everton will not be shown on TV in the UK

Here is all you need to know.

Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates on Wednesday evening, as they seek revenge for their defeat at Goodison Park in early February.

James Tarkowski scored the only goal during Sean Dyche's first game in charge of Everton, yielding Mikel Arteta's side to just their second league defeat of the season.

However, two consecutive victories against Aston Villa and Leicester has seen the Gunners reclaim top spot in the Premier League.

Martinelli found the bottom corner in Arsenal's 1-0 win over the foxes, after Leandro Trossard saw his first half goal disallowed for a foul in the build-up.

The north London side will be hoping to go five points clear of second-placed Manchester City with a win over the Toffees.

Meanwhile, Everton are off the back of a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa, as they returned to the relegation zone.

Why is Arsenal vs Everton not on TV?

The contest was originally scheduled for September last year. However, the game was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The clash will not be shown on TV because it originally fell within the 3pm blackout period of the Premier League, permitting it to be broadcast in the UK.

Despite the game's postponement, the rearranged fixture is still not authorised to be shown on TV.

Unfortunately for Gunners fans, the Premier League leaders are not being shown on TV for three straight matches, with their 1-0 victory over Leicester not televised.

Meanwhile, their upcoming game against Bournemouth at the weekend also falls within Saturday's 3pm blackout, meaning supporters in the UK must have a ticket to the match in order to watch the action.
