A key Arsenal signing in January will depend on one particular exit from the Emirates Stadium, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Arsenal have secured two signings in January already, with Mikel Arteta wanting the club's chiefs to be active in the transfer market.

They have signed Leandro Trossard from Brighton and Jakub Kiwior from Spezia, and have been linked with a number of other players.

One of those players is Trossard's ex-Seagulls team-mate Moises Caicedo, with Sky Sports claiming that Liverpool and Chelsea are the other clubs hoping to bring him in. However, The Times report that Brighton have placed an asking price of £100 million on the player.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are also reportedly interested in signing Real Valladolid full-back Ivan Fresneda, with the 18-year-old also attracting attention from Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund.

Having been born in Madrid, the Spaniard joined Real Madrid's academy in 2014 and stayed there for four years.

He has broken through into Valladolid's first team this season, making 12 appearances in all competitions. He has also represented Spain's U19 side.

Now, Romano has revealed what it would take for Arsenal to bring him in.

Romano on Arsenal Fresneda pursuit

Writing for the BetVictor blog, Romano has detailed the latest updates on the Gunners' pursuit of Fresneda - and how it will require one of the club's current right-backs to complete a move away from the Emirates first.

He explained: "In the next two to three days, Spanish full-back Ivan Fresneda will decide his future, as Borussia Dortmund want him and they are pushing. Valladolid hope for Fresneda to stay on loan until June.

"Arsenal like Ivan but deal depends on Cedric Soares to leave the club, for sure an interesting domino."

Cedric is reportedly close to a move to fellow Premier League side Fulham, although there are stumbling blocks.

BBC Sport report that the move may be on loan or on a permanent basis, with the Cottagers required to offload one of their two current loan players from Premier League clubs - Shane Duffy from Brighton, and Daniel James from Leeds - to seal a loan move.

It is also claimed that Cedric's £100,000-a-week wages are holding up a deal, but the Gunners will hope that an agreement can be reached for the 31-year-old, who moved to the Emirates Stadium from Southampton in 2020.
