Mikel Arteta is aiming to lead Arsenal to Premier League glory this season

A video of Mikel Arteta talking about how he wants his wingers to play has gone viral after Arsenal’s victory over Manchester United on Sunday evening.

Arsenal continued their fine start to their Premier League campaign after a dramatic late goal by Eddie Nketiah sealed all three points for the Gunners.

During the clash against United, Arsenal were the dominant side from start to finish as they had more of the ball and created more chances than their opponents.

The likes of Nketiah and Bukayo Saka were stand-out performers as United failed to keep the pair quiet throughout the course of the match.

Saka was voted man of the match after producing a stunning display. After the match, a video clip of Arteta talking about his wingers resurfaced.

In the video, Arteta was heard saying: “Because I don’t like creating lines between the wide players.

“Why? Because the full-back passes to the wide player like this. His back’s to the goal. He can’t progress the play. There’s always someone at his bum. He cannot play forward.”

Whilst Arteta explained what he doesn’t want, clips of Antony’s performance for United on Sunday were shown as the Brazil winger's movement matched Arteta's description.

Arteta went on to describe how he wanted his wingers to behave, he said: “When you do it like this, the angles you create, you’re always receiving the ball like this.”

As he said that, clips of Saka’s attacking runs from Arsenal's recent match against Tottenham Hotspur were shown.

That is the major difference between Saka and Antony at the moment as Arteta has managed to get the best out of his players.

Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has revealed that Arteta has changed the mentality of the club.

He said: “I was lucky enough to be at the training ground recently. Everything has changed so much, it feels like the manager of the training ground is 95 per cent Mikel who has changed the whole thing.

“The perception of the club has changed. There are positive messages around the training ground, much bigger facilities, better equipment, the pitches, you name it.

“At the entrance, they have a symbol of an empty Premier League. He wants to show the message, we need to put it in there. Every day the players see the Premier League, but just the symbol, like an inspiration every day. He has changed the mentality of the club.”
