Antonio Conte could be sacked after the North London Derby, says former Premier League striker

Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney has made the bold claim that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte could be sacked if his side fails to beat Arsenal on Sunday.

Speaking with The Sun, Deeney is worried for the Italian's future after they have fallen so far behind their North London rivals in recent years.

Tottenham are a whopping 11 points behind the Gunners who currently sit perched at the top of the table, five points ahead of the Champions Manchester City.

Spurs have failed to win 2 out of 4 of their recent games after the World Cup in Qatar.

Deeney is clearly heavily disappointed with Tottenham this season and with them being one of the most inconsistent sides in the league there is no surprise.

"They have fallen so far behind Arsenal. They have flattered to deceive and not only do they need a performance, this is a must-win."

"There is so much frustration and disappointment that if they lose badly, where next? I don’t see them recovering for the rest of the season."

Deeney believes Conte's emotion will play a huge part in his decision to stay or go.

"Somebody like Conte is emotional in his behaviour. A defeat this weekend puts him on the edge of doing something that Tottenham do not want to see happen."

This derby means so much more than a rivalry this weekend, a loss for Tottenham could see them lose a manager who has been struggling to keep up with the top 4 as of late which is worrying for their hopes of Champions League qualification.

If Tottenham do fail to win and Conte does step down who would replace him? There are not many managers out there who could replace the Italian's quality and experience.
