Arsenal have confirmed Takehiro Tomiyasu will be out for the rest of the season.
The 24-year-old was spotted limping off the field during Thursday's Europa League round of 16 second leg against Sporting Lisbon, which saw the Gunners knocked out on penalties.
He was later seen wearing a knee brace and walking on crutches, consequently missing Arsenal's 4-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.
Tomiyasu out for the season
Arsenal have now confirmed he will not play for the rest of the campaign.

A club statement read: "Following his substitution during last Thursday’s Europa League match, subsequent assessments have confirmed that Takehiro Tomiyasu sustained a significant injury to his right knee.
"Tomi has had successful surgery in London on Tuesday and will be ruled out for the remainder of this season.
"Everyone at the club will now be working hard with Tomi, so he can join pre-season training ahead of next season.
The news will come as a major blow to fans, with William Saliba also currently sidelined with a back injury.

The 21-year-old was forced to withdraw from the France squad following a knock against Sporting Lisbon.
Since then, French news outlet L'Equipe have claimed that Saliba will be absent for 'several weeks', leaving Rob Holding and Ben White as the club's only fit senior right-sided centre-backs. Although White is currently having to operate at right back.
As Arsenal's back line is stretched to its limit, it could be a nervy finish to the season as Arteta looks to seal the Premier League title in 10 games time.
