Arsenal Told To Axe FIVE Players And Fund Move For England Star After Edu's Huge Blunder

Arsenal Told To Axe FIVE Players And Fund Move For England Star After Edu's Huge Blunder

Arsenal fan Darren Bent insisted that it 'made sense' for Jude Bellingham's development to sign for Borussia Dortmund ahead of Man United.

Arsenal have been urged to sell the likes of Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny in an audacious bid to sign Jude Bellingham after Edu’s shocking mistake.

That is according to former Tottenham and Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, who believes the Gunners could “chop” five players in an attempt to land Bellingham.

Bellingham, 18, has become one of England’s rising stars and was previously linked with Premier League side Manchester United.

It has now emerged that the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, who was signed from Birmingham City in 2020, has become a ‘top target’ for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

However, Dortmund are keen to fend off interest from Premier League clubs in their pursuit of Bellingham, whose current contract will expire in 2025.

Now, Arsenal fan Bent has insisted that the England international benefited from his decision to snub United and move to Dortmund.

And the 37-year-old added that Cedric, Bernd Leno and Calum Chambers should be on Arsenal’s chopping block alongside Xhaka and Elneny.

“It makes sense for his [Bellingham] development because he’s got more game time, in the Champions League, at Dortmund than at United,” Bent told talkSPORT.

“I’d literally switch five players for him, I’d chop in five for him. Xhaka, Elneny, Cedric, Leno, Chambers. There’s your five and I’d give you £50million on top to get him.”

Xhaka appeared on the verge of leaving Arsenal in the summer before his move to Roma collapsed after the Italian club refused to meet the Gunners’ £20m valuation.

Arsenal also reportedly turned down a bid from Turkish side Galatasaray for Elneny, who remains part of Mikel Arteta’s plans for the current Premier League season.

Gunners legend Tony Adams revealed that Arsenal came close to signing Bellingham before the appointment of Edu as the club’s technical director.

“I think it got lost this one in the transition of the chief scout,” he told Sky Sports in 2020.

“He was spotted very early on, not by me but by the Arsenal recruitment office. The chief scout was absolutely bowled over by him and the great prospect that he is.

“New sports director Edu came in from Brazil and had no European experience and no UK experience and I think it got lost in the transition.

“Unfortunately, the chief scout had the deal kind of done but we missed that one. He’s a great talent but unfortunately he’s not joined the right club.”

Adams added: “They are the type of players we need to get hold of at the Arsenal if we’re ever going to develop and go forward.

“These kind of players we need to tie up, get them to the Arsenal and build a phenomenal league team. He’s a great talent but unfortunately he’s not joined the right club.”
