Arsenal set for 'four-way fight' this summer for talented player with £26.5m release clause

Arsenal set for 'four-way fight' this summer for talented player with £26.5m release clause

The race is on.

Arsenal are in a four-way fight to sign Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda this summer, according to reports.

The Spain Under-19 international has impressed in La Liga since making his senior debut in January 2022, earning the attention of Europe's elite.

As quoted by Spanish news outlet AS, the defender's agent confirmed he was the subject of interest from “30 clubs” in January but elected to to stay with relegation-threatened Valladolid.

In doing so, Fresneda, who's contract expires in 2025, is said to have snubbed Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta instead turned his attentions to Leandro Trossard and Jorginho, who he signed from Brighton and Chelsea respectively.

Whilst some fans may argue that the club have plenty of options at right-back with Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu both available, Fresneda is widely regarded as one of Europe's most promising talents.

The Evening Standard claim that Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Newcastle are also chasing the 18-year-old.

The report states that he will sit down with his representatives at the end of the season and assess his options ahead of a possible move. Whilst Arsenal will continue to monitor him for the rest of the season.

The teenager has a release clause of £26.5million, with the Spanish side reportedly hoping to start a bidding war in the summer.

Meanwhile, Football Insider claim that United have taken a 'really active interest' in signing the Spaniard ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report also states that that Old Trafford scouts have been keeping tabs on Fresneda over the past few weeks and that the club are 'laying the groundwork for a potential swoop'.

On Arsenal's other flank, Kieran Tierney has been linked with a move away from the Emirates after struggling for game time this season.

Newcastle are said to be interested in the Scotsman as Eddie Howe seeks a left-back this summer.
