Arsenal told asking price for Premier League star as Gunners pursue Mudryk alternative

Arsenal told asking price for Premier League star as Gunners pursue Mudryk alternative

Arsenal have reportedly learned the asking price for a Premier League star in January, as they search for a Mykhailo Mudryk alternative

Arsenal have learned the asking price to sign Brighton star Leandro Trossard in January, according to reports, as they search for an alternative to Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Ukrainian winger had long been linked with the Gunners, and the club were expected to complete a move for him in January.

Mikel Arteta's side submitted three bids for the player, with the last bid, as per Fabrizio Romano, believed to contain a €70 million fixed fee plus add-ons.

However, Chelsea made a last-ditch attempt to sign Mudryk on Saturday, and club executives travelled to Shakhtar Donetsk's training base in Poland to thrash out a deal.

They reached a verbal agreement with Shakhtar on Saturday evening, and after signing an eight-and-a-half year contract, Mudryk was presented to Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Arsenal, therefore, are on the lookout for an alternative to the Ukraine star - and may have found one.

Arsenal learn Trossard asking price

According to reports, they have developed an interest in Brighton star Leandro Trossard, after the Belgian star was dropped by Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi for the Premier League clash against Liverpool due to attitude reasons.

The player's agent released a statement explaining that a January transfer was the 'most convenient solution', and he has attracted interest from Arsenal and Tottenham, amongst others.

According to talkSPORT, Brighton will allow Trossard to leave but only if clubs pay their £25 million asking price. It is claimed that neither Arsenal or Spurs have been prepared to meet that valuation thus far.

The Belgian has 18 months left on his contract, so the Seagulls may be prepared to reduce that price in the summer if the player still wishes to depart the Amex Stadium.

For Arsenal, a £25 million fee would represent a far cheaper alternative to Mudryk, and could potentially allow them to strengthen in other areas as they look to push towards the Premier League title in the second half of the season.
