"Cheeky" winger who ripped Liverpool apart last year on five-man Arsenal transfer shortlist

"Cheeky" winger who ripped Liverpool apart last year on five-man Arsenal transfer shortlist

Arsenal are considering other targets after missing out on Mudryk.

Arsenal have put together a shortlist of alternatives for Mykhailo Mudryk following their failure to capture the Ukrainian who joined Chelsea at the weekend.

The Gunners refused to compete with their London rivals' offer of £89m with Mudryk going on to sign a huge eight-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Recent reports suggested that Arsenal have now compiled a five-man shortlist of potential alternatives which includes Barcelona's Raphinha, Premier League star Leandro Trossard and Napoli ace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Arteta is keen to strengthen his side's forward options during this transfer window as they look to cement their position at the top of the table.

The North London outfit host Manchester United on Sunday, the only team they have lost to in the league this season, in a game being built up as huge in the title race.

Klopp: 'Cheeky' Kvaratskhelia a difficult opponent

One man on their shortlist who has impressed is Napoli winger Kvaratskhelia who was lauded by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after an impressive display against his side in the Champions League earlier this season.

The Serie A outfit ended up topping their group ahead of the Reds and Kvaratskhelia was one of the standout players.

Speaking about his battle with Trent-Alexander Arnold, Klopp said: "He is a good player, both are good players.

"He is really good (Kvaratskhelia), the boy. Really quick, we have to defend it well together in these moments.

"When he has the advantage of the first moment, then he is already gone.

"You have to try to be there in the moment when the ball arrives. If you cannot to do that, you need to be protected because he has speed.

"He is cheeky, he can go inside, he goes outside, that always makes him difficult. A good player."

He has been directly involved in 21 goals in 20 appearances for Napoli this season so it comes as no surprise that Premier League clubs are showing interest in his services.

However, Arsenal will have a battle on their hands to get a deal done with Napoli resistant to selling the 21-year-old and could demand a price tag over £100m, according to 90min.
