Arsenal keeping tabs on deadly forward - Thierry Henry really rates him

Arsenal have been linked with a France international forward - and Thierry Henry has given the player his seal of approval.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for France striker Martin Terrier - and Gunners legend Thierry Henry is a big fan of the player.

The 25-year-old currently plays for Ligue 1 side Rennes, and has had an impressive start to the current season. He has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 13 league appearances.

At his current rate of scoring, he could surpass his tally from last season of 21 goals and three assists from 37 league games.

The forward came through the youth academy at Lille, before making the move to Lyon in 2018 at the age of 21.

But despite high hopes, Terrier was unable to establish himself as a key member of the squad at his new club.

Rennes saw his potential, however, and signed him in 2020 to bolster their squad ahead of their Champions League campaign.

Nine goals and seven assists arrived in his first campaign, but it is over the past two seasons that Terrier's form has alerted top European clubs. Gunners legend Thierry Henry said in May (via Get France Football News) that he likes the forward 'a lot', and backed him for a national team call-up.

And, according to reports, the Gunners are one of those clubs.

Arsenal keen on Martin Terrier

According to 90min, up to 10 Premier League clubs have scouted Terrier, including Arsenal and Man United.

It is claimed he may be available for a fee in excess of £30 million, which would certainly be affordable for a number of clubs.

The 25-year-old has been playing in a central attacking role for Rennes, but can also play on the left side of attack.

That would appeal to the Gunners, who have been keen to add competition for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Terrier has a contract with Rennes until 2026, meaning the French club appear to be under no pressure to sell the player.

They are also currently competing in the Europa League this season, and are already through to the knockout stages with a game to play.

However, they can still top the group and avoid a play-off tie against one of the teams that finish in third place in their Champions League group.

The lure of the Emirates Stadium or Old Trafford, though, might be too much for the 25-year-old to ignore - if the clubs in question place an official bid for the player in the upcoming January transfer window.

And given that he has recently been called up to the France national squad ahead of the World Cup (he is yet to make his senior international debut) all eyes could be on Terrier in the upcoming weeks.
