Asier Illarramendi 'Brought His Whole Suburb' To Real Madrid Unveiling

Asier Illarramendi's move to Real Madrid was a proud moment and he brought a lot of people along for the presentation.

Asier Illarramendi's Real Madrid presentation will live long in the memory after he seemingly brought everyone from his ends to the special event.

The defensive midfield player sealed a dream €32.2 million switch and became the club's most expensive Spanish player when he joined from Real in 2013.

He penned a six-year contract following an impressive season at La Real, who he had helped qualify for the Champions League.

Illarramendi was officially presented as a Real player on 13 July in the director's box at the Santiago Bernabeu, with around 4,000 people present.

And in the official pictures taken, it genuinely looked like Illarramendi brought the whole town of Mutriku with him for the momentous occasion.

At first he held up his new shirt alongside Florentino Perez and then immediately there was a swarm of family and friends.

The group image taken may be the best in presentation history and still has Real fans in hysterics today.

Commenting on his transfer, Illarramendi said: "This is a very special day for me, this is a truly great club; a few days ago I would never have dreamt that I would wear a different shirt from that of Real Sociedad. This is a unique opportunity for me, this is a truly great club and I will give my all for it."

Illarramendi played 90 times in all competitions for Real, lasting just two seasons in the Spanish capital but lifting La Liga and the Champions League.

In 2015, the Spain international returned home to Sociedad for half of what Real paid to sign him - and has gone on to figure a further 166 times and captain the Basque outfit.
