Arsenal Can Win The Premier League In Just TWO YEARS Despite Tottenham Thrashing, Claims Bacary Sagna

Arsenal Can Win The Premier League In Just TWO YEARS Despite Tottenham Thrashing, Claims Bacary Sagna

Sagna believes Arsenal will be crowned champions in the 2023-24 campaign.

Arsenal are capable of winning the Premier League title in just two years, according to former Gunners defender Bacary Sagna.

Mikel Arteta's side are currently fourth in the league but face a battle to qualify for the Champions League next season after being thrashed 3-0 by rivals Tottenham on Thursday night.

The Gunners are now just a point ahead of Spurs with two games remaining in the season.

Arsenal now trail Premier League leaders Manchester City by 23 points but Sagna is confident Arteta's side can challenge for the title in just two seasons.

"I was worried about how Arsenal were going to perform this season, but they've proven me wrong," Sagna told The Sun, via Bet365.

"There's clearly a process and fans need to trust the process and keep the faith.

"Write them off next season if you want, but I'm sure in two seasons time, they'll be topping the league as champions."

Sagna made 284 appearances for Arsenal between 2007 and 2014 before moving on to Manchester City.

The former France international says he was impressed with Arsenal's performance against City at the start of the year, when the Gunners lost 2-1 the the defending champions at the Emirates.

"If you look at how they played against Manchester City at the Emirates, they outplayed them," added Sagna.

"Not many teams can do that and to be able to outplay them you have to have a lot of confidence; a lot of quality and I didn't see any others play this way against City this season.

"Even Liverpool didn't take it to them like this, so there are promising signs for the future."

Arteta recently signed a three-year contract extension to remain with Arsenal until the end of the 2024-25 season.

When asked if he felt Arteta was deserving of a new deal, Sagna added: "Yes and no. I'm impressed by his mental strength.

"He came under a lot of scrutiny earlier in the season and that can't have been easy. I wouldn't have wanted to be in his position.

"But I've known Mikel a long time now and I know for a fact he's always been a coach, whenever we were watching games together, he would talk to me about formations, what I was thinking and tactics.

"For me I just wanted to go to the game and enjoy it!

"I didn't want to talk tactics, but the point is I'm not surprised he's the Arsenal manager at all, management is in his DNA."
